Out of the box, CS caches data for multiples of 5 (the cache factor). You can change this factor by modifying the CacheFactor value in communityserver.config.

When a new posts is added, CS does refresh the Cache, however in multiple web server senarios this may not always work as expected as CS has a unique cache per server, and each webserver is unable to affect the cache of the other server.

In CS2007, is the post cacheing bound to database?, i.e. if some of the records in cached data change in database, then does the cache get updated?

I general, can someone explain to me how chacheing works community server 2007?

Hi Mandar,

Generally it takes approx. 10 min. to update cache, and this is in C.S 2008. I am not sure about C.S 2007.

CS2008 does not support multiple communities in a single database. You can either use the groups feature *or* use shared membership to use the same user accounts accross multiple installations of Community Server.

By default, only system administrators can create groups. This can be modified in the Group Administration Control Panel.

Yes. The group's forums are generally only usable by the group's members. Some of the specific permissions related to forums in groups is described here: http://getben.com/archive/2008/05/05/community-server-2008-groups-overview.aspx

Forum threads support ratings and a forum post can include an optional poll. But I don't know that either of these features are what you're looking for. If they're not, you'd need to implement this support via custom code.

Generally, if users are granted delete permissions and the post does not have any replies, they are able to delete their own posts.
