I was wondering whether it is possible to create programmatically a post without sending notifications to any of the thread subscriptions? I wrote a module that will inject advertisement every n number of posts and would create a reply post with an ad. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Not sure about a way to prevent emails being sent with new forum posts however, as an alternative method, have you had a look at the AdPlacement and <AdTemplate> options on the ForumPostList in themes/YOURTHEME/forums/thread-flatview.ascx. You can use that to either insert ads as the 2nd post, 2nd last post or (both), in between every post or in between every other post. You can also give you ads their own style, without a user avatar etc. apearing.
