Hello, I'm new to CS and to .Net. I am building out site built on CS2007 Beta2 in preparation for the commercial release. There are 4 things I'm looking to do, and hoping to get some advice on.

  1. Integrate support for embedded video playback ala Youtube. Will the ScottWater.CS.Modules work with O7, or do I need to wait for an update?
  2. Can I incorporate the DanBartels.CS.CalendarControl module into CS07?
  3. Build out the front page of my CS07 site as a photoblog similar to this: www.autoblog.com (photos & excerpt linking to full blog entry)

Thanks very much for your Advice

1- You should be able to use ScottW modules in CS 2007.  You can also use CSMVPs CSModules package which supports almost all the video sharing services.

2- And again, it should be possible to use Dan's calendar in 2007 but I haven't tested it.

3- I couldn't understand what's the exact functionality that you want to accomplish.  If you explain more then I can give a better answer.

Thanks very much for the response. I will give #1 and #2 a shot.

Regarding #3, I will attempt to better explain my goals. I would like to provide a single blog as the primary home page content for the site. A good example of what I'm looking to accomplish can be seen at www.engadget.com. The basic idea is a home page with a string of blog entries, each with a headline, text block, photo, or video clip, and link out.

I was dissapointed by the screen that appears when one clicks the 'Blogs' button in CommunityServer. It is a very plain list of blog entries. That's not what I'm hoping to bring to the front page of my site.

Thanks very much for your assistance.

Ok, got it.

Text, link, images and ... are a default part of a blog that is provided in Community Server but if you want to aggregate all blog posts in homepage it's easy and possible.  If you want to customize the theme to be better it's easy especially in CS 2007 where you can do things in a few minutes so there is no problem to customize the page for your needs and get something similar to Engadget homepage.  Many CS sites are currently doing same thing.

Hope this helps.

Oh yeah,

#4 I'm looking thank everyone for their help with #1-3.Wink

As I'm a newbie to .Net, and CS, I think I'll have my hands full figuring out how to do #3, so I'll save #4 for another day.

 Many thanks!
