I searched around for this but couldn't find it in CS or on the supports boards.

1. I don't want people to upload avatars but I want them to be able to use linked avatars

2. Everyone that has uploaded avatars I want deleted.

note: number one is most important because I can probably figure out number two.

Thanks,

John

Is there a way to disable the upload of avatars in CS 2.1?

I've already disable avatars and remote avatars, but I'm still able to upload them.

Has anybody figured this one out?  I'm limited on SQL space so I'd like to remove the ability for users to upload avatars.  I don't see this setting anywhere in the Control Panel.  If it's not configurable within the Control Panel, is there an aspx file I can modify to remove the "Upload Avatar" code?

When you say it still lets you upload them did you wait a bit after you changed the settings?

Are you logged in as admin when you are uploading them and they still work?

You can change the Global Avatar Settings in CS 2.1 in the Control Panel > Administration > Membership > Global Avatar Settings

Global Avatar Settings

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see how the above settings can accomplish what we're looking for.  When I set "Enable Avatars" to Yes, then avatars will display on my web pages.  If I set Enable Avatars to No, then avatars will not display on my web pages (which is what I would expect).  It does not seem to affect the EditProfile page.  The "Upload Avatar" function is still there and appears to work (putting images in the DB and taking up space).  I see this when logged on as any user.

What I (and I believe the other user above) are trying to do is: have avatars enabled so that they show up on web pages; however, only allow remote avatars and not allow them to use the Upload Avatar function on the EditProfile page since this action would eat up space on the SQL DB.   Thanks for any suggestions.

Ok I tested what you mention and it seems either it's a bug or by design possibly I will see what I can find out for you on this.

Hi,

Any news on this?
I'd like to have my users only allowed to use linked avatars too, and I am having the same issue.

Any chances to have this issue fixed in any way?

Thanks.
