I think there should be a discussion about content management systems in general.  Beyond the obvious differences (open source vs. proprietary, php vs asp) how are all the multititudes of products out their differentiated?  I've been looking at CS, Mambo, Joomla, Drupal, DNN, and the list goes on.  What are the pros and cons of these systems, which system do people prefer (obviously most here would side with CS, myself included)  Has anyone had a particularly good or bad experience they want to share?

Thanks, Patrick

CS is not a CMS. Also it's not as same as other applications you listed.

Generally CS is a platform to build enterprise online communities and fits for needs of someone who wants to have an enterprise website with many visitors.

Users should choose between these applications but it’s good to know that CS will be a CMS in versions 3.0 which will be based on SharePoint 2007 and fits to CMS needs. So you will have a CMS + an enterprise platform in hand.

Hope this helps.

Actually it will be integrated with Dozing Dogs, not SharePoint (unless I missed that memo). Telligent acquired Dozing Dogs a while back: http://dozingdogs.com/telligent, so come 3.0 CS should be a full CMS system.

Thanks for the clarification.  I'm still a little confused on how a full CMS system differs from CS, however.  What added functionality should we see from an integration with Dozing Dogs?  I understand a lot of this is probably still in development, but just a ballpark explanation would help.

Thanks, Patrick

Currently CS isn’t a CMS (due to definition of CMS). Actually CS is a great platform.

Generally CMS is easy to install and customize for normal users but CS isn’t.

Using that integration, you can have a great CMS and integrate the functionality of Dozing Dogs with CS. You can’t understand this until you get experience with them but as Scott Guthrie had posted about this, the integration between ASP.NET 2.0, SharePoint 2007 and WSS is an innovation for web development and you will see this soon Wink [;)].

Hi. Would the Content Management System of CS2007 be included in all licenses including the personal and express?

Thanks in advance.
