Hi,

I've been trying to set-up CS v 2.0 (personal edition). Have dealt with most problems using the forums but am now out of my depth.

I've installed MS Framework .NET 2.0 & SQL Server 2005 (enabled TCP/IP & Named Pipes) & CS 2.0 but then this 'Databse Connection Failed' icon pops up at the Configuration Wizard.

'Failed to connect to database... Named Pipes provider, error: 40... etc)'

My domain server name is correct to my knowledge: ns1.livedns.co.uk

Should the Databse name be Community Server? Is the server not compaitble with SQL?

Hope someone can help.

Many thanks, Ed

It's not required to have the name as "CommunityServer".

All you need is to make sure your server has SQL Server correctly installed and allows remote requests and doesn't block SQL Server port (default is 1433) with firewall.

Then you should be able to connect to this database from any other machine that is connected to network.

Hi Keyvan,

Thanks for your response.

I've purchased the MS SQL monthly database package from Fasthosts.co.uk with which domain name is hosted.

So at the final stage of CS Configuration Wizard I've input the correct Server Name/IP Add & Database Name, but I'm still getting the 'Database connection failed....Named Pipes Provider error 40 etc' pop-up icon. SQL 2005 is installed correctly to my knowledge. So how do you allow remote requests, doesn't block SQL server port etc?

As this looks like it will take up more time than I can give it, is there anyone at CS who can design/set up the website for a fee and transfer conrols to myself? Have sent several emails to sales@telligent.com bu have not received any responses. Normally I'd give up here, but the features CS provides are exactly what I am looking for on my website.

Hope you can help this dispirited newbie,

 Eddie Shin

Eddie,

I don't think Telligent sales department is a good place to ask about this.  I think it's better to contact Fasthosts.co.uk and ask them to set your SQL up for remote access then let you us it easily.  This should be something that they normally do and you can get a better response from them.

I think Telligent sales doesn't care about anything except CS licensing, customizations and CS hosted edition.

Hope this helps.

Take a look at this thread. Hope this helps. You'll need the instance name as well as the server name.
