My blog is located at http://fiteyes.com/blogs/dave/. I want to change that to http://fiteyes.com/blogs/eye-pressure-info/ or something like that so that my keywords are in the URL. I want to perma-redirect (301) from the old blog name. What is the best way to do this in CS 2.1?

Detailed steps are appreciated.Thanks

If you have access to IIS, then Nick's suggestion would work well.

I'm not sure which suggestion you are referring to. Let me know if you know of something that's better than this:

My site is not in a virtual directory in IIS, it is a web site.  So I created a virtual directory called TestingRedirect under my web site. I set the properties to redirect to a URL and I specified http://fiteyes.com/blogs/dave$S$Q and I checked "the exact URL entered above".

I have tested it and it seems to work.The next step would be to make a virtual directory for /blogs/dave and redirect it to /blogs/eye-pressure-info using this technique. But first,I just have to figure out how to deal with all links in my blog posts that start with "/blogs/dave/". I hate to leave them in place indefinitely after I rename the blog, but I also cannot go through each post and manually change each link. Any ideas/suggestions for a better way? Thanks

Step 1: Change the 'URL' of your blog from Dave to eye-pressure-info in the CS Control Panel

Step 2: In Windows Explorer, you should now see a ~/blogs/eye-pressure-info directory. You need to create a ~/blogs/Dave directory (no files needed).

Step 3: In IIS, right click on the ~/blogs/Dave directory:
Properties --> Directory Tab
* Check "Redirection to a URL'
* Enter in as the Url: /blogs/eye-pressure-info

OK your way out and test it.

Sean, thanks. I'll try that as soon as I finish reading some of the great articles on your blog! Wink You've got some good stuff there and your cool signature drew me in to read the stuff. Just thought I'd let you know.
