Hi,
As you know, the startpage of CS2.1 is much more leaner that the CS2.0. Several posts are pointing out, what to do. In may case, i don't want to display the overview of all blogs. I only want to display a specific blog. How can i do this?
I also found lot of posts, asking for documentation about placing other stuff on pages, e.g overview of a forum. Is this really not documented? Do i have spend hours and hours to browse the forum to get some basic information? E.g. i found that "<CS:WhoIsOnline runat="server" id="Whoisonline1"/>" adds the "WhoIs" -list back. Thats cool, but where is it documented?
To be honest, i expected much more technical documention for this great product. I have to spend a lot of spare time to get some information, which is really annoying.
I believe that you could just add the following line into the page where you want it to display. Just change the ApplicationKey value to the correct value for your blog. An easy way to find the ApplicationKey for a specific blog is to go to: Control Panel > Administration > Blogs > Blogs. The ApplicationKey is in the first column.
<Blog:AggregatePostList runat="Server" PageSize=5 id="AggregateBlogPosts" EnablePaging="false" EnableTitle="false" ApplicationKey="developer" />

Every so often I feel the same way, then I remember one of my favorite words: FREE. These forums are probably your best documentation. And I mean that sincerely and with a lot of confidence. The user community has created incredible guides on everything from Skinning to hard core code customization. And its all here in the forums. When I do searches for Single Blog Site I find about 10 different answers on how to do this, some with intrinsics, some with third-party addons.
Sometimes I feel that seeing 400 posts all asking the same question in the forums reduces the value of the forums since the answer is likely already posted at least 10 times. However, occassionally, the right mix of people happens to be watching on that 400th post and a whole new discussion will start with a completely new way of trying something.
You say "then I remember one of my favorite words: FREE". Not really correct. We're using a payed version of CS. This is the reason, why i expect more and better documentation. Spending time searching in the forums costs money too.
Multiple posts for the same issue again and again is the result of the lack of docs. A clear and professional documentation would also decrease support cases, which stresses the people from the vendor.
Do you change it VS 2005 by modifying the source?
I have tried to change by CMS control. Entered using HTML view, but it does not work...
I worry about changing source, because later upgrades will not work...
The references above require that you edit the default.aspx file in the root of the web site.
