Any way to do this using CS? I really like CS2.0 but wish it had the ability to do this. Example: Log in to the site, go to a specific forum, if there are undread messages in a thread the post count is bold, click on the post count and it takes you to the first unread post in the thread.

As it stands, it's a huge pain to get to unread posts - even using the "posts you have not read" shortcut fails in this area because it only takes me to the threads that contain unread posts. Gah! I hate Lithium boards, but they do exactly what I outlined above.

Anybody have a plug-in or something to do what I'm looking for?

Thanks!

We've heard this comment from a couple of folks now, so it's made it onto our list of potential enhancements. That said, I'm not sure when it'll make it into the core product.

Thanks.

Sounds good. Maybe an interim solution would be to put in a user selectable option that makes it so when any thread is clicked on you are taken to the first unread post. This would be a global setting, but the user could turn it back to default (where clicking on the thread goes to the first post in it).

Thanks for the reply

If we implement this feature, we'll most likely do it the way you suggest.

(Personally, I'd like to reduce the number of preferences, rather than continue adding an infinite number of configurable options.)

Thanks.

Is this still being considered ? We recently attempted to use CS for our customer forum but our customers rejected it for this very reason. They want a way to easily see which posts they have read.

There are just a few features from the Prospero-based forums, like the feature being discussed here, that I would love to see incorporated into Community Server.

The recent focus on the blogging, skinning, and so forth, has been really cool -- and has benefitted me tremendously -- so I can't complain too much.

Hope it gets rolled into the code, or shows up as a CSMod some time in the not-too-distant future.

Our users are really up in arms about this not being there.  Please be sure to put my vote down for including it in the next release/service pack.

BTW,  I have been digging through the code for a week now and I don't see how it is even possible...

I've looked at the view cs_vw_HasReadForum and I don't that is going to be useful...Also, I looked at the cs_ThreadsRead and cs_SectionssRead and I can't figure out a plan of attack.

What I'd like to do is when the user selects a thread, the SQL that gets that thread would also get the last thread read...then I could either redirect them to the permalink of that or set visual indicators indicating the posts unread/read status.

Any help is appreciated,

Paul
