Can anyone help?
Server Application Unavailable
Administrator Note: An error message detailing the cause of this specific request failure can be found in the application event log of the web server. Please review this log entry to discover what caused this error to occur.
I've recently downloaded the free version (NOT the web installer) of CS2 to test on a couple of dedicated servers. There are 4 servers in total, 2 IIS and 2 SQL - the only difference between each pair is the hardware spec (one has faster CPU more RAM etc.) The installations were identical, with the CS site files hosted under dedicated IPs and new App pools created in IIS for CS alone. Both servers have ONLY the .NET framework v1.1.4322 installed.
The install worked fine on the IIS/SQL pair with the more basic spec. The installation across the 2 more powerful servers is now returning the error above.
Having had a fair bit of experience with IIS and ASP.NET, I know that this is a bit more serious than the standard white/yellow ASP.NET error messages. Unfortunately, no messages appear to have been written to the event log.
One final thing has be a bit confused... for some reason, when trying to access the site through a browser I'm prompted for a username and password as though I had removed anonymous access from the site. Obviously, the only way to get past this (and then see the error message above) is to sign in as one of the windows users registered on the server. Could this be a related issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
