I am trying to rearange the order of items in CommonSidebar. This shows up in the blogs section, and includes a "Post Calendar," "Common Tasks," "This Blog," "News," "Syndication," and others based on the theme, but I need to know how to change their order. I've tried rearanging the order they appear in Skin-BlogSideBar.ascx, which does nothing. I can't find a place to arrange them in the CSS, and I dread delving into the CS. I'm hoping theres something in the skins, or the CSS files that I missed that places these in order, so that I don't have to recompile. If anybody would like to tell me where I can change this, I would appriciate it!

This should be the correct way to alter the order of items in the side bar for blogs.  Are you changing the correct skin-blogsidebar.ascx for the theme you are attempting to change ?, or try forcing internet explorer to refresh its cache after you have made the change by pressing F5.

Thank you. Your suggesting of missing the ascx file was correct. I only altered Themes/default, not Themes/Blogs/defualt. if I was to delete the BlogSidebar.ascx from all the seperate themes in the Blog folder, would CS be able to build up to Themes/default/BlogSidebar.ascx? Or is it wiser just to edit all the files seperately, since they are not the same? Also, is there a way to add breaks between the different components? If I wanted to put more space between the Calendar and the QuickLinks, for example. Is this the in the CSS? I modified what I thought it was in the CSS, and I made sure to change all instances of that element in all CSS files, but I didn't see the space reflected in the page. Thanks again!

Without doubt  you should  change each individual skin-blogsidebar.ascx if you wish to modify them all.You could use a <br> between each control to increase line spacing between or each individual control or probably do something in CSS, however the CSS side and making things look good is not one of my stronger points !.

One final question. I have, on my drop-down list when choosing a blog theme many, many irohas. iroha 1, but they are things like "blog_print.css" and "forum.css," obviously for a master theme, not for a blog theme. How do I remove these from that drop-down? And thank you so much for all your help, dave.

Hi,

Am not sure, but you could try this.

 1.  Make a backup of your themes directory.

2. As an example go to Themes\Blogs\Gertrude, delete the files ending in @green.css and @red.css

3. Go to Themes\Blogs\Gertrude\Style, delete the green.css and red.css files.

You will now see that when chosing a theme for a blog that only the standard Gretrude theme is listed.

So what you will have to do, is very carefully delete the files you do not want.  To remove the Gertrude theme completely delete the Themes\Blogs\Gertrude folder.

After each set of deletions check the result is as you execpted, if not restore the files from the backup.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Dave

I had to reboot my local system for it to recognize that the CSS files were gone. I guess I, once again, have one final question (we'll see how long that remains as such). I wish to remove "iroha", "iroha2", and "iroha3" from the list. There is no CSS file called "iroha" without a color modifier. This single entry I wish to remove is iroha moegiiro, but it's a duplicate, since "iroha" and "iroha moegiiro" are the same. I removed iroha@.png, but it still wants to show up. Any ideas on how to get that to go away? Thank you, by the way, for the help with those css files. Those didn't want to say they were gone.
