Hi,

I have MS Windows 2000, IIS 5.0 with Framwrk installed and MS SQL Server Express. When I attempt to install CS 2.0, The Community Server Configuration Wizard indicates that it could not open a connection to the SQL Server. Any ideas what I have to do?

Thank you.

Which installer are you using? The MSI or Web?

I have the same issue, mine is hanging on both the MSI and the web installer with SQL denied or even

An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

I get this above one in the web installer....I have remote stuff set up in SQL Express and have everything else right...help!

u can manually set up the database by following the steps in the readme file in the sqlscripts folder of the webinstaller.  Once you have run those scripts, you then only have to write the sql server connection string in the web.config file

I was able to solve the problem by specifying my 'hostname\SQLEXPRESS' in the server window. Thank you for your help.

Using (local)\SQLEXPRESS worked for me when specifying the SQL connection

Hope this helps

Mike
