As you know, the skinning stuff is more or less undocumented. It's hard work to change everything to our needs.

To simplify everything, i recommend the following::

- Use Firefox and install "web developer extension".

This extension is very cool and allows you to see all html information very quickly and easy. This saves you a lot of time and limits the frustration level to an acceptable levelWink

I defiinetly have to second the use of this tool. Weather or not it "limits the frustration to an accpetable level" or not--I'm not sure. But it sure does help.

It's also worth mentioning that if you compile CS in debug mode, there will be inline HTML comments outlining the skin hierarchy, along with the path to the physical skin file location. Extremely useful as the control hierarchy in CS isn't trivial to figure out.

.. which you can then click on "misc/view comments", in above-mentioned extension, to see markers you can hover over to get the comment text.. without having to viewsource.

Update- check out..   Tip: Visualize Namespaces/Skins in Browser
