Multiple Communities, One Blogger, How Many Blogs?

I am planning several topic-specific communities published under different URL's.  I want to have a topic-specific blog on each, all written by the same individual blogger.  In addition, I want everything written by this individual to appear in a blog (or blogs) on their own personal website.  The goal is to have only on-topic information published in each community, and to have an organized archive of everything the individual has written available in one place.

Since I am in the planning stage, I have some flexibility to change what I want.  I am not so much looking for what is possible, or what could be done with some hacking, but for "best practices" and the available features that were designed into Community Server.

What is the best way to accomplish this?  Is there a way to have one blog for everything, with different filtered (by subject) views at the different community sites?  Or will I need a separate blog for each community, each cross-posted to one (or more) blog on the blogger's personal site?

Edit: In looking at the blogs here, it looks like the "Telligent Bloggers" may be done the way I envision.  Are the entries there done at each individuals blog site and cross-posted here?  Or entered here and cross-posted there?  Or is something else happening?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

There are several ways you could accomplish this goal using Community Server.  The "best practice" in my opinion would be to wait for CS 2.1 and use the new blog mirroring functionality.  This is what the Telligent Bloggers blog is using on this site (which is running an early alpha version of CS 2.1).

Blog Mirroring is a more advanced version of the Blog Roller feature included in CS 2.0.  It allows CS to pull RSS feeds from anywhere and save the content inside of a normal blog on CS.  Using this, you could set up your master individual blog with various categories (renamed to Tags in CS 2.1) for each of your desired topics.  Then you create your posts there, tagging each post with the appropriate category(ies).  In CS, every category and combination of tags has a RSS feed.  So you could setup blog mirroring on each of the topic sites to pull the RSS feed for the category/tags desired and display it in a blog there.

If you needed to deploy your topic sites before CS 2.1 is available, you could use the Blog Roller feature in CS 2.0. The drawback is that the blog roller displays content on it's own "roller" screen rather than inside of a normal blog.

That does sound like exactly what I want.  Maybe I'll do something temporary for the topical sites until the 2.1 beta is released.

Thanks for the heads up!
