After the application of CS 2008 sp1 several of the blog skins that used to work no longer do work.

Anyone else experienced this?

Specifically:

Basic

Basic Blue

Paperclip

Poison Ivy

Snowflakes

Snowscene

The one in particular many liked was Paperclip.  Are there plans to get that to work again?

The only theme in that list that is released as part of CS2008 is Paperclip.  All the others are old blog themes for CS2007 which I expect were not deleted or upgraded when you upgraded from CS2007 to CS2008.

The Paperclip theme however works fine for me on my local install of CS.  Can you try redeploying the SP1 binaries, and recopying the /themes/blogs folder across to make sure you did upgrade the files properly.

After i do try & error test , in \Themes\Blogs\Paperclip\theme.Master have a bug.

Remove below line will solve SQL database provider error.

<CSMail:MailingListData runat="server" LinkTo="MailingList" ResourceName="Weblog_Link_PostByEmail" Tag="Li" />

Nope same thing on Paperclip and that's the one most want back.  We have SQL on a second server.  Same error occurs.

What error are you getting on the paperclip theme?  If you get a "sorry, you resquest cannot be processed", follow the instructions at http://docs.communityserver.com/errors-and-fixes/finding-underlying-error-when-receiving-the-friendly-error-message/.

No, mine is the "We can't reach your SQL database provider" error even though other skins work and it worked prior to SP1

Actually, you want to delete all the lines from 81-95.  They should have been removed and are replaced by the section above it, the widgets.

Another post talk about "CS2008 sp1 Data Store Unavailable" in http://dev.communityserver.com/forums/p/500321/626342.aspx .

You can download again CS2008_SP1_4.0.30619.63.web.zip , and upload \bin\CommunityServer.MailGateway.dll to resolve this issue.

Hey dmwc,

"Data Store Unavailable" is a generic error and the post that you refer to is completely unrelated to the issue of this thread.  Site themes and blog themes are two different systems.  In this case whoever converted the page to use widgets, missed the removal of a section.

Take it easy,
Bill
