Can not access Control Panel after 2008 SP1

While the rest of the site seems to function normally, I get an error on attempts to access the control panel.

Normal things I have done to try to correct
     - Reload SP 1 files
     - Rerun SP 1 SQL
     - Access via another admin account
     - Examine cs_Sections for corrupt entries (not sure but don't appear to be any)
I am at a lost to what to try next.
    Thanks

Did you copy all the files from the Binaries folder of the Upgrade ZIP file into the /bin/ directory of your website?

Re: Can not access Control Panel after 2008 SP1

    First, thanks for the response.

I loaded (twice) the Binaries into the /bin of my website. There they overwrote several files and appeared to add a couple of new ones.

My /bin has the same parent as the rest of the files. Is there a reason why the /web files (which I put under the same parent without the /web) are in a different directory in the service patch than binary files? That is, why didn't the service patch come with /web/bin like it did with /web/ControlPanel? Is there a clue there?

    Follow-up.

Actually, it turns out I can go to the control panel, just not through the front door. If I try the url

http://mysite/controlpanel/default.aspx I get the error. If I add something other than default.aspx (say fourms) to the end, it works fine.

OK, I found the problem and the problem is user error with the FTP program. Once I put the updated files into the correct directories, works like a charm. Thanks for all the eyes.
