I am running 3.1.20917.1142 and was wondering if there was a way of extending the database/registration to include mailing address information? I have a mailer going out and would like to capture that info as well. And also I would like it to be availabe in the edituser area as well so current members can take advantage of it as well. Thanks.

You'll want to look at writing a profile subform.  Once you've written that, you can use the same markup to allow users to add that data on creation, and on the edit profile page.

For more information on profile sub forms, I suggest you look at http://docs.communityserver.com/2007/287-subform-controls/ for general information about subforms, and the UserAvatarSubForm in the SDK, as an example of implementing a profile subform.
