We are working on hosting CS 2008 at a hosting facility that is providing a three-tier server architecture for us: Web, Application and Database. Can someone point me to documentation on how I would configure CS 2008 to support this environment. Two-tier (web/app and Database) is the only environment I have ever setup for CS 2008 so I'm looking for some assistance as we are doing a build out for 15,000+ users and high volume multi-media using hubs and media galleries.
Community Server does not support such an architecture, though you may see some benefits from having a DB server, multiple web servers, and a single "jobs" server that runs the enterprise task service.
I've taken your recommendation and installed CS 2008 on the web server, the .msi for Telligent Task on the App server and the database on the DB server. What I don't know is how to setup the Task Server to run against the database server on a scheduled basis. I update the connection string but how do I debug it to make sure it's doing what its suppose to do? I look at CS 2008 Job log and it shows the last run time of the job but doesn't say the job server is running and none of the searchs return anything. Looking for a quick tip on how to run the task manager in some mode that shows that it's doing.
