I am in the process of preparing for the upgrade, the main question that I do have is. Is There any issue with upgrading the system using the upgrade tools where the database is stored on a remote site.

Also has any anybody found any issues upgrading hosted sites, primarily with the Orcsweb host.

No issues, that's how it's meant to work.  As long as you have local access to the files, and access to the db server

I believe CS.com is hosted by Orcsweb Host

 Thanks.

Started to play with it today, brought a copy of the database, and web pages down from the host to my dev box.

Set up the database and pages to what I thought was correct, and nothing works. I have added the new URL to the sites list and set the site mappings and still nothing. I am getting an "Inernet Explorer can no not display this page error" and nothing else, not even getting any errors :(

I can get the normal html files that are in the directory i.e. the error page.

Any thoughts.

Looks like I am getting a 301 error in the logs. :(

 Got it....

On my production site I have the url with www.sitename.com, and when backing it up I have moved to dev.sitename.com. I did add the site to the site tables and the mapping tables, but what I didn't do was change the communityserver.config file.

Inside the communityserver.comfig file there is a section that asked you if you would like to keep the www, remove it or ignore it. On the production site I asked it to require the www, but now that I have a dev site with it I needed to swap it to Ignore.

At least that is fixed and I can now go through the upgrade.
