Hi
We are currently using CS2007 which we have done a lot of skinning/theming on. We are considering to start "fresh" with a new design in CS2008 and therefor wonder if this procedure would be possible.
1. Install a new version of CS2008
2. Make a copy ot the CS2007 database.
3. Run the upgrade script on the CS2007 database.
4. Connect the new version of CS2008 to the upgraded CS2007 database.
I'd suggest:
2. Make a copy of the CS2007 database
3. Connect CS2008 to the CS2007 database
4. Copy the files/storage, photos/storage/, blogs, forums/storage, sitefiles/ folders (and their contents) from the CS2007 site to the CS2008 site (without overwriting existing files)
5. Run the upgrade script on the CS2008 site
6. OPTIONAL: Delete the files, photos, blogs/files, and forums/storage folders.
Hi Ben
Thanks, just to make sure I copy the right things:
files/storage, ok
sitefiles, ok
photos/storage
blogs
Copy or not copy the blog content
Copy or not copy the blog files?
You can copy the entire photos/ folder if you'd like -- after you've run the upgrade tool for CS2008, you can remove the entire photos/ folder from the upgraded site.
For blogs, I would suggest copying all of the contents of the blogs/ folder... just don't overwrite any existing files in the CS2008 site.
