Hi,

Does anybody know if the version of enterpise search is tied to the version of Community Server being used (i.e. can I use the latest v4 version with CS2007?) or if there is anywhere to download older versions?

Yes, it is tied to the version of CS your site is using.  If your site is CS 2007.1, you would want the Enterprise Search for CS 2007.1.  If you are using CS 2008, you need the Enterprise Search for CS 2008.
