I've created a clean install of CS2007 on a Win2K3 server.  CS is installed to the root folder of a new web site (The installer was allowed to create the site).  Without changing any of the default settings, and without editing any of the default blogs, forums, etc, I'm unable to view individual entries.

For example, I can browse the default "Sample Weblog" to the level

/blogs/sample_weblog/

However, trying to read the default entry with the path:

/blogs/sample_weblog/archive/2008/04/21/My-First-Post.aspx

results in a 404 error.

Likewise, I can browse the default forum down to

/forums/

But I can't read any of the entries.

Ditto for trying to read the profile for the admin user at /members/admin.aspx  (Trying to read /members/ also fails).

In short, attempting to read anything where requests for are supposed to be intercepted and "virtual pages" generated seems to be failing.  (The cs_EventLog and cs_Exceptions tables contain nothing of interest.)

Searching the CS forums, I did find a post that suggested verifying that the Application Extension mapping for .aspx files does not verify that the file exists. That box was already unchecked.

Several weeks ago, I installed the same version of CS on a virtual machine, and in that environment, everything worked.  Comparing the IIS settings, I don't see any differences except that the install on the physical machine left the "Read" checkbox unchecked on the "Home Directory" tab.  (This causes some problems with CSS and other static files.)

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Well that's embarassing.

On the same tab where I verified that the .aspx wasn't verifying that the existed there's a place where you add Wildcard application maps.

After installing CS2007, I added a wildcard map for the Netegrity SiteMinder.  There's a "Verify that file exists" checkbox when you set up a wildcard filter.  For some reason I interpreted that to mean "Verify that the SiteMinder DLL exists."

After clearing the checkbox, everything works.

*sigh*

Problem solved.  Stupid user error.  (Just like 90% of all computer problems.)
