Hi,
For some reason, in CS 2008 Build: 30417.1769 when an anonymous user goes to the Blogs tab it is empty.
Logged in users can see things just fine.
We have upgraded the database from CS 1.1 -> CS 2007.1 -> CS 2008 RTM (without problems).
We have used the "clean" Web folder from CS 2008 RTM and pointed it to our upgraded database.
Is there a configuration that needs to be changed to make the Blogs tab show the mixture of blogs?
Thanks!
I found a setting "Site Config - > Setup -> Aggregate Behavior" -> Use Only Public Weblog Sections for Aggregate Areas. It was checked "Yes". I set it to "No", and now the blogs appear properly on the Blogs tab even for the Anonymous user.
However, I am confused why this happens. All the blogs on the site were "enabled to be viewed by the "everyone" roles". So why is this check making a difference?
That option causes the permission check to be done by the "IsPublic" bit in the cs_Sections table vs looking up the users permissions. Its done to improve performance on large communities. Could you please check the status of the "IsPublic" column of the cs_Sections table for me, is it checked or not for your blogs.
Dan
Hi Dan,
The IsPublic is "1" for the blog sections. It is NULL for the other items (like guestbooks and such).
Please confirm that if you re enable the "use only pulbic sections" for blogs that your content doesnt show..
The ispublic flag is not set by default on the upgrade process, and would be null for all sections to start... checking this box, and saving the form should set the IsPublic bit on public blogs, and allow them to be displayed in your aggregate pages.
Please try the fix identified on this thread: http://dev.communityserver.com/forums/p/498790/620234.aspx#620234
This has been successful for other users with a similar issue.
