1. When I edit the user permissions (not admin permissions) for a certain forum after hitting save it will revert back to default permissions in the control panel. It has not propogated the changes to the database and igonred the group forum permissions as the users can still see forums they shouldn't have access to. It works fine for admin permissions these will save properly.

2. I also found that when people rate a thread/post they will not be assigned any points to their total. Creating new thread and replying to existing threads does indeed allocate points to the user perfectly fine. Anything to do with rating won't give any users points. I have checked the appropriate settings to enable this feature but so far nothing.

3. I'm not sure if this is a bug or not but people can re-rate a post they have alreaded rated. Is this by design or is there a certain attribute I am missing which disables this functionality.

I am using 2008 RC with a dutch language pack and IIS 6.0.

I was unable to reproduce the first item.  Are you running the RC build?  If you are not I would upgrade to it because there was a fix in this area.  Also, is it a specific role and permission causing this, or is it all roles and any user permission?

This is enabled in all applications -- users can modify their ratings but the edited rating overwrites the user's original rating.  There is not currently a way to disable this feature.

I have done some more investigation into problem 1 and I notice that it works fine up until you remove all ticks from the permission list. Then it just resets itself to the default.

Ahh thats a shame about point 3. Is there any way of displaying to the user which post they have rated and which not. As it's rather confusing and doesn't stimulate rating a post if you can't see if you have already rated it in the past.

I was just able to remove all permissions from a forum by unchecking everything on both the user and admin tab.  Are you running the RC?

I am indeed running the RC and the forum I am trying to change the permissions on is a new forum i created under the administrators group.

Any idea on the second issue?

Hi nickeales,

nickeales:

Rating only counts towards the current point system, when it's at the forum post-level. If your site is setup to do rating at the thread-level (the default) then ratings do not effect a user's points.

To change this setting go to the post settings in the forums control panel.

One is glad to be of service...
