Does CS 2008 allow a specific author to be specified for mirrored blogs. See http://communityserver.org/forums/t/491317.aspx

No, that is not a configurable option at this time. Blog posts that are create from mirrored feeds are always saved with the anonymous user account and with a submitted username that is the title of the mirrored feed.

To save them with a specific author would take a little bit of coding. The best way would be to create a CS Module (i.e. plugin) that runs before a post gets saved to the database and updates the username for any post that is marked as being external (post.IsExternal == true). Another approach would be to create a custom version of the RollerBlogsUpdater task that CS runs every 15 mins or so, and change the registered tasks in the communityserver.config file to use your custom RollerBlogsUpdater task instead of the core version.

Hope that helps.

Thank you for responding Kevin. Is there any way that this request might be included in the final release of CS 2008?

As a community owner, one of the best features that CS offers me is blog mirroring. However, unless I've set up the blog mirror incorrectly, one limitation I see is that not being able to specify the author limits the mirrored blog owner to having a very, very limited presence on the community site.

Here's a typical scenario:

PersonX has a blog hosted at personx.wordpress.com. PersonX has also registered on my community site and has built up a decent profile page listing a biography, a link to his blog and his forum posts. When setting up a blog mirror for one category of his Wordpress posts on my community site, there appears to be no way to link his mirrored blog to his profile on the site. So even though he has a nice profile page, his contributions by way of the mirrored blog, aren't associated with his profile.

In CS 2008, it is quite clear that you've significantly enhanced the profile page. If there were some way to specify the author of a mirrored blog, it would appear that the author's profile page would also benefit from being able to show the list of posts that were mirrored on the site.

Just checking to see if the CS team had a chance to review this request for CS 2008.

I've also called for this function earlier. But my reason is so that I can't get an image of the blog writer beside the mirrored blogpost. Look at this page at CS

http://communityserver.org/blogs/

Three pictures are just grey and anonymous and could have been alotted a user and image which was way nicer to look at. Not to much of a problem at that CS.org-page but would be if Rob Howards pictures wasn't showing above.

This would be resolved with assigning a blog-specific picture that would be shown. How about that? Cool enough feature if you ask me.

We'll definitely take a look at enhancing the mirroring feature, but at this point it's too late in the dev cycle to include any changes in CS2008.

One is glad to be of service...

OK!
Thanks for the swift answer.

If any independent coder makes some update I'm all ears.
