To have a 'shared' community photo pool/gallery, I would think it would make more sense to let any registered user upload photos to a gallery. For instance, I run a Denver Broncos community, and it would be nice to let any user upload a picture of themselves, pictures of their get togethers/tailgating events, etc.
However, as it stands, I need to make a gallery for each person who wants to upload pictures, make them an owner of that gallery or have a ton of owners for each gallery. Then each of those members can go and delete other photos...or even erase that gallery. It doesn't make much sense.
If one could simply set a permission to allow some role 'add' pictures to a gallery, but have those pictures put into the moderation queue, I think that would be more 'community' friendly.
Does anything like this exist now? Has anyone worked on something to accomodate this?
There was a mod available for cs2.1 that would allow this function however it was not updated to work with cs2007. The plan for cs2008 is to have "groups" functionality so members of the Denver Broncos group should be able to upload pictures etc.

This is not entirely accurate. Yes, as it currently exists, each user would need to have their own gallery, but there is an Auto Create setting at Control Panel / Administration / Photos / Default Photo Settings that when checked will automatically create a gallery for each user and assign them as the owner. However, the down side is that the licensing has changed since this was originally put into place and an unlimited number of galleries only comes with a paid license.
It is unknown if CS 2008 will allow for this, but as Shakes has stated it is being designed around groups. If it hasn't already been requested, you may want to request that permissions be added to allow users in a role to ADD photos and that they be marked as the OWNER of any photos that they upload. Everything in CS is a post (including photos) or an attachment to a post, so the creater of the post could easily be used as the OWNER.
