Cool - downloading at the moment.

One thing I noticed, when you goto the file gallery and try to download the file as an annonomous user,  it tries to download the file on the login page, instead of redirecting you to the page to download the file.  If you're using IE, this causes an information bar to appear and to download the file, it refreshes the page meaning you have to login again to download the file, despite the fact you're already logged in.

Thank you,

Hi Rob,

Rob47:
Can you describe how the "TemporaryUserToken" will be / can be used?

With this new feature, when a user forgets his/her password and requests a change password link be sent, we create a temporary token that is set to expire on first use or within three hours (whichever comes first). Since the token expires, the exposure to accessing the site (without logging in) is severly limited.

Also, while we only leverage the temporary tokens feature for this "change password" scenario, it is indeed part of the API and so can be leveraged by developers of add-ons, modules, or other extensions.

Hope that helps...

Hmm, my reply to this thread seems to have caught the spam blocker's eye...

When I tried to download the file, I wasn't logged in and so CS asked me to login to download the file.  However, when I logged in, IE gave me the download information bar warning on the logon page, which means that when you accept it, the page refreshes so you have to enter your login details a second time, despite the fact you're now already logged in.  To see what I mean, logout (in IE), goto the download page, and download one of the files.

One other thing I noticed, after being caught up in the spam blocker, is it worth giving two different messeges when your posts are moderated - one for when all posts are moderated and one for when individual posts are caught by the spam blocker.

Jose,

What's the schedule for SP3 going into Release? We're working on a project now for delivery at end of September so would love to get all those goodies into our release if at all possible!

Thanks,

Andy.

Hi Andy,

Assuming we don't hear of any major issues, and assuming folks try it out, I can't imagine late September would be an issue.

At this time, my hope is that by mid September we will officially release it.

What do you estimate as the risk regarding this service pack?

Normally I would never install a beta on a production server, but I've been looking for many of the listed fixes for a long time so....

Hi Erik,

I believe the risk is relatively low. As Rob blogged, we've been running a very similar build here for a while. That said, here on communityserver.org we do not fully leverage the Photo and File Gallery and only do limited blogging.

I would definitely recommend that you try it out in a non-production environment before applying to a LIVE site. Ultimately, it's your call Smile

Do the "official" releases usually have alot of changes? I'd like to install this pre-release, but just wanted to know if I should wait.

We're about to launch our new site in a couple weeks and it would be nice to upgrade this before we launch. Thanks!

Do you have any guide lines on the applying this patch to the existing production web site?  Assuming we have SDK source code, and we have customized many codes.

Can we pick up some fixes individually, or we have to apply them all, or none?

I have downloaded this pre-release and do a whole project comparision and see how we can apply them in the production server.

Thanks.

You should definitely test the changes thoroughly first.

As for merging changes, the source file changes are included in the SP3 download in the src/ sub-folder.  Only changed files exist in this folder.  While you could select individual files to merge into your existing site, you would need to decide which files to merge and how a partial merge would affect your site.

I would definitely suggest merging all of the changes (while resolving conflicts with your customizations).
