I have recieved a few emails about the CS2.1 articles not working in CS2007, so I have created a new article on adding pages to the CS2007 version.

If you have any issues, questions, concerns, feel free to ask about it.

Anyone having issues with the article?  Or is CS2007 not yet that widespread?

Hi Dante,

I followed your instructions to the letter (CS 2007 SP2) but it won't work for me.

The "sample" menu item shows up but when I click on it, I get the following error:

Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong?

Ken

Carlo,

Did you do anything different that the instructions listed in the article? I followed them to the letter, and I get the "Oops,..." error. Is your site that you used this on available for all to see? Thanks.

BTW, I had the same problem as Farm Boy, except I got the "Oops..." error. I am using community server 2007, SP2. build 20611.960

 Thanks.

Joaquin

Hi Joaquin,

Nice to know that I'm not alone!  :-)

Strange error message about "Another application"  - This looks like the clue that Sherlock would use!

Anyone know what "Another application" means within the context of ASP.NET ?

 Farm Boy,

And anyone else. I got this to work. I don't have the time to inspect as to why, but simply go to Dante's download section

http://www.renevo.com/files/folders/articles_cs/entry1129.aspx

and download the 2007 Sample page zip file.

Be sure and do not overwrite all files. I overwrote(SP?)/have overwriten the Sample/Default.aspx file and the 2 (sample.aspx and sample.master) files in the Themes/default/sample folder. This seemed to work.

I also re-copied and pasted the entries into the SiteUrls.config file. As Dante instructs, do not simply overwrite these files!!!

Thanks for those who responded to my emails and thanks Dante for doing all the hard work

Joaquin

Hi Joaquin,

Good News. It is now running.

With my first attempt, I had copied from the sample article.

This time, I downloaded the .zip file and copied the files piece/test by piece/test.

It appears that I had changed the file pointer in one of the files because it didn't run first time.
But overwriting my first attempt with the (edited) zip files did the trick.

Thanks Joaquin for pointing me in the right direction and I second your plaudit to Dante for doing the hard work.

Has anyone tried using these steps on anything but the default theme? I've followed them exactly, (using the files provided in the sample.zip) on the 'leanandgreen' theme to no avail. The page creates fine, and all the objects appear to function as expected... but the theme properties aren't inherited.

Creating a sample directory under the default theme, and copying in the sample.aspx and the sample.Master is able to inherit the default theme to the new page without issue.

I've looked in about a dozen places to find the inheritance properties for something that may be hard coded for the default theme location, to no avail.

Any help someone can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Gregory
