Hi

Emails are not being send out using CS 2.1.

I have a SMTP server installed on my machine running windows 2003. I have the relay options setup and i can send emails using other website setup on my server. the only one not sending emails is community server. i have enabled mail in cs and the job process for mail is also running. Here is what i see in the job process for email

CommunityServer.Components.EmailJob True False 1/9/2007 2:06:34 PM 1/9/2007 2:06:34 PM 1/9/2007 2:06:34 PM

I dont know but what should i enter in the SMTP server field in the admin settings. i have tried (localhost),localhost, (local), ip address of my mail server, dns nameof mail server nothing seems to work

Use Windows Integrated Authentication turned on in CS as this is the authentication method for my SMTP server and my Network Service account is authorized to send email using SMPT local server

there is one row in the email quetable containing information about the email i am trying to send

this is the error message i am seeing in the admin exception

User Agent:
Path: as HTTP
Referrer:
Message: SendQueuedEmails Failed To: myuser@emailaddress.com
System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040213): The transport failed to connect to the server

after changing some setting here is the new error

System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040211): The message could not be sent to the SMTP server. The transport error code was 0x80040217. The server response was not available

appreciate your help

thanks

Hmmm... does your email service require SSL to be activated?  If so try this...

i was able to resolve this issue. little bit disappointed with the help that i got from you guyz none the less. CS is good but help needs to improve or atleast have a knowledge base where guyz like us can go and search for our answers

the problem was that i had to turn off the windows authentication required in the email settings in CS to work. I kept the localhost as my SMTP server

thanks
