I had a roller page with an external rss feed on a CS 2.0 site. Now after upgrading to 2.1 the roller is gone. The rss feed is still listed in the aggregated feeds in control panel, but I can't find how to display it on the site.

Any suggestions?
Thanks
Leslie

Look for other posts on this subject Les there are a few.

Basically the roller is now in the blogs so push the feeds into a blog and they will come though as before.

Like JoeWork said, search for Blog Mirroring.

The functionality has changed, and there's no easy migration from the Roller to the new Mirroring, but the Mirroring is overall more flexible.

It looks like mirroring is supposed to allow you to add an external feed to a CS blog, so the blog and the external feed are listed in a single list. Have I understood this correctly? It's not doing anything at all for me as far as I can see (maybe a caching issue)

What I want to do is show an external feed(s) on a page of its own. This is what the roller did, but is there any way to do this now?

+1

This is a great article to see how it's done. I followed this and it worked flawlessly.

Thanks.

I followed the steps in the first video, but after 24 hours there are still no posts.

I tried giving CS its own application pool. I only have one CS site, but there were several other applications running with it on the default app pool, so I created a new app pool one with the default settings and am now using that for CS.

I also tried setting the pull interval for the mirrored content to 1 minute, but still no posts appearing. Any more ideas?

Thanks

I have an error message in the CS event log:

"Could not update feed items Feed: http://sitename Section: 26 Error Message: Forum Weblog not found: 26 does not exist. Stack Trace: at CommunityServer.Blogs.Components.Weblogs.GetWeblog(Int32 blogID, Boolean cacheable, Boolean ignorpermissions)
at CommunityServer.Blogs.Components.Weblogs.GetWeblog(Int32 blogID, Boolean cacheable)
at CommunityServer.RollerBlogs.Components.RollerBlogUpdater.ProcessFeedItems(RssFeed rssFeed, RollerBlogFeed feed)
"

Does this explain anything?

Can you list the exact format you entered the URLs in on the Add Mirror page? Specifically the Feed URL and Site URL fields?

Anyone have any ideas about this?

I tried deleting the feed and the blog and re-creating it, but still the same error and no posts appear.

nudge...same problem here. Any ideas?

It definately does not work from the ASP.NET development server, from which it's not even possible to change the isolation level.

It also does not work from Windows XP SP2 web server.

I guess after about 15 minutes, it started working on my XP SP2 IIS web server. My Application was configured for Medium (Pooled).
