As part of the continuous improvement we're making to CS, I am happy to announce that our current build (50922) includes a point system. As another part of developing a user's "reputation", the point system will allow community administrators the ability to set the importance of various statistics by applying weights to the individual pieces of the formula. The system will use posts, replies, post-ratings, and another soon-to-be-disclosed feature as part of its calculation. Settings will control which sections (forums, blogs, or galleries) are enabling points and the visibility of points at both the post and user levels. That's right, posts also accrue points, so you'll be able to track which posts are the best. Quantity is no longer the only thing that matters. We're focusing on quality as well. The point-system is yet another feature we've built on top of CS Modules, which means it's event-driven. It also uses a provider on the back-end, so you'll be able to modify it or swap it out, if necessary, while not touching any of the core code.

One is glad to be of service...

Any chance it will be enabled here?

Looks like I'll have to figure out how the point system works so I can work on accumulating points.  Wink [;)]

What, you mean you can't see points?Wink [;)]

My guess is we'll turn it on soon. In the meanwhile, take a peek at this screenshot, and you'll see what I currently see.

The reason you can't see points is because the settings are currently set to display points only to admins and moderators. Here's a screenshot of those settings.

I think the control panel, displayed in photos, is a little bit akward!

Suggestion:

  • "Display Post Points Publicly", should work as Everybody can see the points or only the Administrators/Moderators can see the points.
  • "Display Post Points only to Administrators & Moderators" should be, enable or not, the feature in forum.

Thanks for the feedback George. I think you're right, it is a bit awkward.

What if we were to combine them into a single setting?

Post Points Visibility:
Don't show to anyone | Show only to admins/moderators | Show to everyone

Thoughts?

I thought of that.

It would be no option to disable the feature... Except if we do not wish it! Wink [;)]

Kevin just wired-up the Points module, so points should begin accruing. We'll also be running some procs soon to get the site "caught up" in terms of past activity.
