Under site admin/theme configuration/Navigation bar, I have about 6 menu items. One was called Message Forums and I changed it to -Forums-  (note the minus signs that I used)

When I saved the configuration, there was a hang in the browser, not sure why but now every time I open the site admin and go to the theme config, I get an error in IE8 stating that the script is running slow and it asks me if I want to keep running the script or cancel it.  I can no longer change my theme settings.

Once I cancel the script to unhang the browser, when I go to the navigation bar settings, I notice that the item list is EMPTY. However, if I do view source I can see that the menu items are there. I think the minus character I used is hosing it up.

I've looked everywhere, and can't find the navigation bar list in any of the config files or the database.

Can someone tell me where the 'navigation items list' is stored?

Wow, I fixed it! I found the setting buried in dbo.cs_themeconfigurationdata. I was about to change it in the database but didn't feel comfortable doing that. So I exported the theme to XML, edited the XML file and re-imported the XML file. And boom! it worked.

Don't use any special characters in your navigation menu!

So far I've search all the files in my site and I can't even find one with a modified date of today when the problem started. So I'm pretty sure its in the database somewhere... help :)

Can you navigate straight to the control panel by going to http://url.com/controlpanel/ .  Go to the Theme Configuration page and then change the navigation entries through that.

Thats the problem, I can get all the way into the control panel just fine, I get the script error/hang on the theme config page

/controlpanel/Settings/ThemeConfiguration.aspx

I kill the script and then click on the navigation bar Tab and the navigation items list is blank. I need to find out where this list is stored so I can remove the entry that I think is hosing up the script..

Can you run in a browser other than the IE8 beta - e.g. Firefox, IE7, Chrome and see if you have the same problem.
