Hi,
When editting the emails.xml file, the line breaks are not rendered and the entire email gets sent out as a blob.
Some of the emails are wrapped in tags like <htmlbody> and <textbody>, but applying these tags does nothing to make the whitespace render.
Can someone tell me what needs to be done to format the emails properly?
Thanks
Are these HTML emails that do not render carriage returns, or Text emails.
HTML does by ignore carriage returns, and instead to signify a carriage return, you'll need to use <br />, or wrap each paragraph in <p></p> tags. Text emails should however render the cariage returns.

This is what is confusing me.
First I added the <p> and </br> tags to see if they would work and they didnt. The output would look like this:
[Name],</br><p>Thank you for contacting us blah blah blah.</p></br></br><p>The information you need is blah blah blah.</p></br>.....
...which led me to believe that it was text based, but when you remove the tags and just use carriage returns the output looks like this:
[Name],Thank you for contacting us blah blah blah. The information you need is blah blah blah.....
The space character whitespace renders correctly, but the line breaks do not.
Can you tell me what version of CS you're running? - right click on a page from your site > view source, and have a look at the version number in the Generator meta tag - for example
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="CommunityServer 2008 SP1 (Build: 30610.56)" />
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="CommunityServer 2007.1 (Build: 20917.1142)" />thanks for your help.
Can you try upgrading your website to CS2007.1 SP1. You can download the service pack from http://get.communityserver.com/download/cs20071sp1up/ once you've filled in the download survey.
I will do that first thing on Monday morning and let you know if it worked. I would do it tomorrow but that is the day us Americans celebrate freeing ourselves from your tyranny. hehe just kidding around...I really do appreciate your help. Have a good weekend!
We appreciate any help...I work with NHinman; we are ready to pull our hair out! :)
Happy 4th even though you are in the UK!
