If a PNG graphic file with transparency is uploaded using the new insert media plugin, the resulting thumbnail in the content selector shows up black.  I believe the problem lies in the resized-image.ashx that makes the thumbnail.

In the version after CS2008 (not the service pack), GIF and PNG images will be resized as PNGs and all other file types will be resized as JPGs.

Mark Monica:
When I swithced blogs the title showed a tab for images for that blog, however the images for the previous blog were displayed.  After a bit when I went to the selector again, the images were not there and a true representation of what should be there.  Maybe a caching issue?

I'm having trouble reproducing this issue.  Can you provide reproducable steps?

All resized images are currently resized to JPG files (which removes support for transparency).  I've logged a feature request (#945) to resize images with transparency to PNG files.

Updates to this feature request will be posted to this thread.

Thanks Ben.  I noticed another problem too with the Media Content Selector.  When I swithced blogs the title showed a tab for images for that blog, however the images for the previous blog were displayed.  After a bit when I went to the selector again, the images were not there and a true representation of what should be there.  Maybe a caching issue?
