I am seeing several bugs with permissions when I have a subforum with permissions that are more restricted than the parent forum.  I am seeing posts displayed that users should not be able to see, and users are unable to access forums they should be able to access.

For example, I have:

  • Parent forum -- everyone can read, registered members can post
  • Subforum -- only members of a specific role can view/post (e.g., PaidMembers role)

The problems I am seeing are:

  • The link to the subforum shows up on the main forums page even to users who are not in the PaidMembers role; this is inconsistent with how permissions on regular forums work, where the forum is not displayed at all if the user does not have view/read permission.

  • The LAST POST title and author displayed for the parent forum can be a post in the subforum -- again even if the user does not have view/read permission for the subforum and should never see a post in that forum.

  • Users who do not have permission to enter the subforum cannot enter the PARENT forum, even though they should be permitted in the parent forum.  The user either gets booted to the login page, or gets an "Oops forum not found" error.
