Is there somewhere in CS 2008 to do an "import" of photos into a gallery, as there was in 2007.1 ?
Thank you,Gary Stadter"We truly fail, only when we quit."
You can try CS Media Manager, it's a windows application that allows you to do this http://dev.communityserver.com/forums/t/498444.aspx. Other than that, no there isn't that is easy.

bummer.
I wonder why they would remove something as simple and useful as that.
Thank you for the response though!
Try CS Media Manager, it does this functionality, only through Windows.
I've looked at it. Haven't used it yet.
It does look like it is up to the task.
You can also use the "Quick Upload" link in the media gallery control panel's file list. This opens a modal that supports multiple file uploading (if you have flash installed).
The use of tags/albums is quite popular among my users, as this enabled them to have a seperate 'album' for each birthday, holiday, sporting event, etc....(it is not uncommon for them to have 20 to 40 pictures per event)
I don't see how to have the files uploaded via the "quick upload" linked to/ascociated with a tag. It appears as though the user would have to do one of two things....either:A) upload each picture one at a time, selecting the tag prior to clicking 'Save' on eachorB) upload pictures using the 'quick upload' feature, then 'edit' each picture one at a time, to add the tag.
In 2007.1, the user could select the tag/album that the files to be imported would be ascociated with, at time of import. Unless I am wrong, what used to be a 5 second process in 2007.1 would now be a 5 minute process (based on 30 pictures @ 10 seconds each to edit and select appropriate tag and save, one at a time).
I might be overlooking something somewhere, but if not, I'd consider this a step backwards in usability, as far as photo albums goes.

With regards to tagging multiple uploads, you are correct. I'd suggest using an external upload tool (such as Nick's media manager) to upload multiple, tagged files.
First and foremost... Ben, thank you for the time you spend replying to this and other threads! You seem to be a large contributor to the community forums.
Is there any posibility of having this added to the list of 'enhancement requests'?
While Nick's media manager tool is quite capable of doing the job, I'd hope that Telligent could appreciate the distaste of having to advise any/all users that upload multiple files that although CS's method of organizing photos, via tags, hasn't changed, that they now need to install and run a client app to be able to work around a regression in functionality(loss of ability to tag multiple files at time of upload/import).

I've logged this as a feature request.
It *could* be implemented via a custom sub-form, similar to the <CSMedia:MediaGalleryPostTagsSubForm /> control that allows tags to be defined. Unfortunately, do to a databinding mis-match, the existing tags sub-form control does not work with the multiple file upload form.
Thank you very much(again) Ben!
