returnUrl in link

I came across an issue which I'm going to assume is a bug ...

I have a link on one of my pages that directs the user to the control panel, to add a picture to a gallery. In my link, I set the returnUrl to the appropriate gallery (so after selecting save, the user is taken directly to the gallery, instead of remaining in the control panel).

The link works fine, if the user is logged in. If the user is not logged in, instead of re-directing the user to the login screen, a Windows login pop-up appears instead.
