SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services, report builder link cannot be seen in my report manager

Hi,

i am really wondering why is it that the report builder link cannot be seen in my report manager eventhough i already confiugred all roles to my users. pls help! [8-|]

Hi Lyzel,

 

there are two types of roles in reporting services: item roles and system roles. Users are assigned item roles (in sql server management studio) by right clicking the "Home" folder (or any item or folder in it) and choosing properties. In addition, you should assign your users a system role (one of two built-in roles - user or administrator) by right clicking the server and going to the permissions page. 

I found out that if you don't give system roles to your users (even if you grant them the report builder role) they won't see the report builder link. Only users who have a system role (either user or administrator) will be able to see the link.
