RSS.NET was originally an open source project hosted on SourceForrge under the MIT license. The original developers of the project never released a "stable" version on SourceForge, but did put a single "nightly" build up for download from http://www.rssdotnet.com/ a couple years ago.
We took that build and are using a customized version of it for Community Server. The version we are using has had many bug fixes and improvements since that old nightly build.
Since then a company called ToolButtonInc apparently took that same open source codebase and improved it to make a commercial library product. They also purchased the "RSS.NET" name and are using that to market it.
So I guess the short answer is "yes". But we are using a custom/special version of the original, not the ToolButtonInc version if that's what you meant.
Kevin,
Is it all possible to get the RSS.NET source you have modified for CS2007? I'm pulling in podcasts and imbedded videos but it doesn't look like you are storing any enclosure information which is what I'm after, unless I'm missing something?
BTW: CS2007 is by leaps and bounds a killer product than 2.1! Keep up the great work!
Thanks,
Greg
We are also looking for the customized RSS.NET source code to resolve a problem encoding blog feeds from WordPress.
Thanks for your quick reply.
Carlos.
Howdy all,
I talked about this with some other folk here at Telligent and we have decided to release the source code for the custom RSS.NET build we are using for Community Server. It will probably be via a Google Code project. I'll post more details in a couple day once we have it all setup.
Kevin
Thanks a lot for the quick response Kevin. When are you expecting to publish the code?
saludos, Carlos.
Any Update on this being released via Google Code. I'm trying to read in some <content:encoded> data and the current build ignores it. I would try to update the RSS.Net source myself but I'm not sure what fixes/enhancements you guys have made.
Nevermind - Found it on google code
Howdy,
Sorry about the lack of an announcement. I actually got the Google Code project setup a few weeks ago with the RSS.NET code in the SVN repository there, but we failed to get an announcement posted yet.
Here's the Google Code project url: http://code.google.com/p/telligent-rss-net/
If you have a Subversion (SVN) client installed like TortoiseSVN you can grab the latest code with this url:
http://telligent-rss-net.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/
If not, I just uploaded a zip file that has latest version of the source code for the project (as of CS 2008 SP1).
