where is the CS Gallery Manager that we use to  point to "http://www.yourdomain.com/photos/chiwisgalleryservice.asmx"?  I have not been able to find it in the Control Panel or Admiinstration tabs.......

Replace the 'www.yourdomain.com' part of the url with your site's main URL and leave the rest of the URL alone.  All this assumes you have already uploaded the web service file to the proper location on the site and performed the rest of the configuration required to make the application work correctly.

oh my gosh, this totally rocks!

I'm going to spend a bit of time getting to know this app, and then give Chiwi a big donation!!!

Yes, Chiwi's program is the bomb for what it does.  Please do support his efforts, because CS wouldn't be nearly as 'manageable' to me without this program.

I hate to be silly, but I find no clear explanation on installation on a remote web server. In this case, I have root access and ran the .msi on the server but there is no "chiwisgalleryservice.asmx" file. I am confused between the workstation part and the web server part. Just how to you "install" something on a web server.  In other words, with .NET I was under the impression if I had the right config file in an application root and the right .dll in the /bin folder I would be good to go. Again, sorry for the silly question but I am not a programmer - just a web master. A simple text file on where to put what files would be most helpful - and of course how to get those files. A zip folder to me is what I expect for getting the files needed to upload to the web server.

You run the MSI on a workstation where you want the gallery manager Win32 application installed.  You then upload the remaining files (.asmx and .dll) to your webserver.  In essesnce, nothing is 'installed' on the web server... you just copy files to their proper locations, as is mentioned in the readme file.

If you do not have RDP or FTP access to your web server, then you'll need a way to copy the gallery service .asmx file and the chiwi .DLL file up to the server and locate them properly.

Once you have done those two things, you should be able to configure the local gallery manager application to connect to the web service and begin uploading photos to your site.

Can you add a feature that will allow you to bulk change a selected group of pics. I have about 5 gigs of photos I want to tag but the only way I can see doing it using your program is one by one. Please help.

I agree in that this would be a terriffic feature to add to the program.  I'd make heavy use of it almost immediately.

Chiwi - any idea on when an updated/final version will be available?

What part of the program doesn't work - the webservice, the client application, etc?  Any error messages?

I'm hoping Chiwis will chime in soon with some kind of an update on the application... I hope it's not dead.

Yes, I hope so. I like pictures very much so I am interested in this tool. Unfortunately, the application no longer work with CS 2007.1 I can find the link but after  enter username and pass when I click on save button, nothing happen.  I tried on other computer but the same result.

The readme in after setup merely states:

  1. Run the installer and follow the instructions on screen
  2. Click the shortcut on your desktop or program menu
  3. Enter your URL to Chiwis gallery web service. eg. "http://www.domain.com/photos/chiwisgalleryservice.asmx"
  4. Username and password is optional.  Will auto connect on startup if supplied.

There is nothing about what files to upload, and where. Also, there is no .asmx file in the installed manager directory. Is the service extension v1.4 a different download?
