There are a bunch of things in this newer version that I'd love to be using, such as the newer drop-down style color selectors. I've tried upgrading to it but it doesn't work. I assume this has to do with the customized CommunityServer TinyMCE theme. Does anybody have an updated theme that does work with TinyMCE 2.1.0?

Thanks!
Brent

I took a look at the new demo and it took almost twice as long to load as the version that we are currently using.  It also seems to be a little slower when performing actions and is only paritally XHTML compliant.  BTW, XHTML 1.1 was released a couple weeks ago.

bneste, if it doesn't work by just replacing your current tinymce folder, then they probably changed the interface which would require changes to the CS wrapper.

Take it easy,
Bill

Thanks for the reply Bill!

I did in fact try just dumping in the new files. It sort of worked. The problem is they added a few lines of code in the editor_template.js (or theme, whatever it's referred to as... I'm not a coder). Most of the file is the same as the template that shipped with CS 2.1 and I tried adding the missing lines to the CS theme... same results.

The things I want the most are the new color pickers. So much nicer. Also, I've found the demos on their site to be pretty slow, even for previous versions. Could be me though. :-p

Anyway, thanks for your reply.

Any chance we'll see TinyMCE 2.1.1 officially added to CS2007? I've hacked my editor template and it does work, but believe me, it's a huge hack seeing as I know nothing about javascript. I simply went through the new version and added/removed things from the existing CS themed one. Nothing I'll put into production since I'm sure there is some issue I'm not going to see and end up with problems in the future.

The new color selectors (drop-down menus... finally!) and advanced color picker are much better than those in the version CS2007 has. Also it would be nice to see the inlinepopup plugin enabled by default.

I digress though.

2.1.1.1 is included in CS2007 SP3 (and includes GZIP compression and combining of the TinyMCE script files).

See the KB article: http://docs.communityserver.org/kb/article.aspx/388/the-text-editor-takes-a-long-time-to-load/

TinyMCE 2.1.2 is actual release now.

Will this release implemented for SP3 final version or it is possible to install it by self?

This question come, because Opera browser bug is solved. ('i'am using opera)

2.1.2 was released just a few days after we updated the editor in CS2007 (for SP3).  There is not enough time to upgrade and properly test this latest point release before SP3 is made available.

We have done some preliminary tests with Opera 9.5 and have found it supports TinyMCE pretty well.  Support for Opera 9.5 will probably be added once 9.5 is finally released.
