I've got a few users on my site who I've made as "owners" of their respective weblogs and photo galleries, but for some reason, whenever those users login, they don't get the "Control Panel" link on the nav bar. They need to be able to get into Control Panel so they can post to their blogs and galleries, but no matter what roles and combinations of roles I give them aside from either BlogAdministrator or GalleryAdministrator, they never get the link to be able to access the Control Panel. The only way I've been able to get it so that they have access to control panel, is to give them BlogAdministrator and GalleryAdministrator roles, which allows them to do anything they want with anyone else's blog or gallery, which I don't want. So what do I have to do to grant an individual user permission to manage their own blog and gallery?

Such as these users don't have access to control panel link but can access to their blogs and galleries by going to their Blog or Gallery and check their right hand sections. For Blogs, they have two links: New Entry, My Settings and they have other links for Galleries, too.

Don't forget to give your users "Owner" role in Role manager.

I'm having the same problem, but when even when I try to give my test user the role of "owner", no New Entry or My Settings links appear on the right hand section.  Is there a time lag or some sort of cron job that has to run before all this takes effect?

Most frustrating, I have users chomping at the bit to blog, most frustrating indeed.

Don't forget to give your users "Owner" role in Role manager.

In most cases, you should NOT add a user directly to the owners role.

To give a user admin access to a specific blog you can do one of two things:

  1. Add the user as an owner. To do this, go into the blog admin view /controlpanel/BlogAdmin/Blogs.aspx and add the username in the owner textbox.
  2. Add a new custom role and then place one or more users in this role. Find the here blog /controlpanel/BlogAdmin/Blogs.aspx and on the permission tab give your new custom role the "Manage Content" permission.

HTH,
Scott

P.S. Make sure you only set the permission on the specific blog and not globally. Otherwise the user(s) will have manage content to all blogs.

Thank you Scott for pointing this Smile [:)].

I thought this is the normal method to accomplish it.

It's all clear, but still not works for me...

I've created a blog group called gruop1. Inside this group I've created one blog wich owner is an user called user1. If I log as admin I can view both group1 both Sample Weblogs groups. Now, if I log with user1 I can see only Weblogs groups and not my blog inside group1. I think that I should set some roles on groups but I'm not able to find where I can do this. Where can I set roles for blog groups? thanks
